Join the ScotELAs Mentoring Scheme

Become a mentor

Anyone can volunteer to act as a mentor. Just register for the members' area of the site, and as soon as you've been approved by one of the website admins (which just helps keep our details and working relationships private within the bounds of ScotELAs) you'll be able to fill out some details about your professional role. Colleagues within ScotELAs who've registered for members' area access will be able to browse the list of everyone who has volunteered to mentor.

If someone thinks you'd make a good match, they'll get in touch directly with you by email. If you decide to go forward with the mentoring relationship, start by completing the Mentoring Agreement (below) and returning it to the Mentorship Sub-committee (details in the form).

Find a mentor

You can browse the list of ScotELAs members who have volunteered to become a mentor. Just register for the member's area of the site, and as soon as you've been approved by one of the website admins (which just helps keep our details and working relationships private within the bounds of ScotELAs) you'll be able to see who's on the list and what experience and expertise they have.

Once you've found someone you think would be a suitable match, contact them to ask about forming a relationship, then download and fill out the Mentoring Agreement (below). Return it to the Mentoring Sub-committee (contact details are in the form) to formally start the process.

Mentoring agreement

The mentoring agreement helps you clarify your mutual expectations, so please discuss this with your mentor / mentee and submit a single, shared document to the Mentorship Sub-committee. By submitting this document, you will also be entered into the ScotELAs Mentoring Scheme database, so this is the first step towards recognition for your mentorship collaboration.
